Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Kuan’s exposure to dentistry actually hits close to home – his dad had a dental office himself, which was originally run by his grandfather! Dr. Kuan had the opportunity to work in his father’s dental office during his college years and following graduation. It was during junior year that he realized he wanted to continue pursuing science professionally. After changing his major from computer science to biology, he soon determined that dentistry would be the perfect fit. With ten years in the field so far, he’s happier than he’s ever been!
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Kuan graduated from San Jose State with his undergraduate degree, then attended the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco to earn his doctorate. This allowed him to participate in the only three-year dental program in the country! To this day, he’s found a strong interest in creating natural-looking restorations, such as fillings and dental crowns, and performing extractions. Continuing education is very important to Dr. Kuan and he has since completed courses on these topics to better hone his skills.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Kuan has two younger sisters, one of which is a high school teacher. The other works as a chiropractor. He’s married to his wife Diana, who is a dentist he met in Dallas. Together, they raise an Australian Shepard/Border Collie mix named Gracie. When he’s not working, you’ll find him spending time with his lovely wife, eating meals with family and friends, cooking, and listening to music. He loves going to live venues to check out new bands!
